Had Hack been with the party since the beginning and not been dumb as a sack of potatos, this is probably something pretty close to what he would have approached Natalya with as a plea for leadership and unification (After the *cough* death *cough* of her husband): You know as well as anyone that these people need a strong leader. They had that in your husband, yes... but he was blinded by his attachments to the old ways. It is time for a change. It is time for a new system to be born. As you once said... Your husband was... and is... a great man as well as a great leader. Though it saddens me to say, his time has passed, and he is no longer here to lead the tribes in this conflict of conflicts. We spoke just a day ago about the fact that leadership traditionally calls for a male leader. I knew you once... Long ago... You have a strong voice and a warrior's heart. Your voice is stronger than even that of your husband's, and you clearly want nothing but prosperity and growth for your people. You are just as capable and much more qualified than your husband was. With you as their figurehead, the tribes could finally unite after so many years of division. Under one banner even such a foe as countless as the half dragon hordes would balk at inviting open conflict. It is time for you... Verossai Natalya, of the United Tribes... to take your place amongst history's greatest leaders, for destroying this draconic menace is the only way for any of us to find our way home. -Z

"Close the book," Natalya ordered. That was more than a little disconcerting to listen to the thoughts of another. Luna was far more adept at deciphering it than any of the tribal shamans ever were. "I'm convinced. Along with what I heard from the others about that one, it actually makes sense." "You worry about the book, and how to save our friends. I'll only worry about uniting the tribes and driving these demons off this continent in the meantime," Natalya told her. "So....Verossai. You going to take the title?" Luna asked curiously. "No. That title is for another time, another place. Not this one. I will be the Khal of the Horde." "I thought Khal was a masculine title. Aren't you--" "It is. The original Verossa was not a Verossai, she was a Khal. That is where I will have to begin." "As Verossa?" "Indeed." "Won't that be a little weird for your tribe? Calling you something else, I mean?" "We believe that names are only set for an individual in death. In life, one can call one's self anything. Now, for you. I have observed your own abilities lag behind your knowledge. Surely someone such as yourself could have mastered far more than the element of lightning." "Ehhhhh," Luna painedly sighed. "Where I come from, magic as you know it was extremely unreliable. The tether to the gods was being severed, and only Daimakaicho's magic was still intact. I, and many others, learned to draw on a more primitive source of magic to continue fighting. It's not as strong as a Wizard, but it was stable despite the dragonkins' influence." "Things are not like that now, are they?" Natalya asked curiously. "Well, no." "So why not learn something else instead?" Luna responded easily. "That's because magic will become unstable. You're going to need someone who can still use it." Natalya smiled. "If there's one thing I have learned about time travel, and people from the future, it's that you think just because you change history, that you know what will happen as a result. However, you have already enacted a change that you cannot predict. Will I succeed? Will I fail? If I succeed, how far can I take it? Further, will I be an enemy or ally of Paragon Soul?" "What I am trying to say is, time travel is dumb and I need you to be able to defend yourself if you are going to help us properly."
