This is an interesting idea that I had that I would like to impliment. It would either be a feat or a trait (or even a flaw). This is the idea I have behind it: When the character was a child (or any point before character generation), the character was infused with truth magic. The magic left a tatoo looking scar on an easily visible part of the character's body. If the character lies, the tatoo changes from white to red for 6 seconds and burns into the character's body. Not only does the change in color reveal that the character is lying, but it also deals (x) points of subdual damage to the character per hit die. Damage (not quite as much, but still some) is also delt if the mark is covered. If a feat: The bonus should be something good, like the ring of truth in 2nd edition (whenever the character hears a lie, he hears the words an octive higher than normal) If a trait: Sense Motive is always in class, and bonus to Sense Motive to discern lies If a flaw: No benefit (besides a bonus feat of course) What do you guys think? I would love to have some form of it, even if I don't get any benefit at all, but it would be nice to have a flip side to it. If nothing else, its a cool RP idea.

If the bonus it gives is greater than +2, we need to think more about it. One way to hide the compulsion is to stay silent, for example. I'd need to see more trait/flaw info, too, in general.

Yea I'm looking at the ring of truth in 3.5 costs 75,000gp. Might be a little powerful for a feat, but at the same time, you can't just put it on when you want and take it off when you don't.
I might just roleplay it, but a feat would make it cool too.

the other thing you could do is make it like some of the exalted feats that grow and develop as the character levels, so as they level up, the radius grows and/or the effect changes a bit, but the damage it does or whatever the negative ends up being also gets amplified (ex: at level 20, it's effective within earshot, but if the character lies, he/she is immediately knocked unconscious (dropped to -1 HP stable (no subsequent bleed)) and is fatigued for 8 hours after waking ((or something like that))
